I wrestled with changes to Facebook in 2008, and wrote an article about it: http://bit.ly/9GM8bD I'm glad I have dealt with this irrational fear of change. The new design seems pretty intuitive.

I really hate it. I gave it a week, thought I might get used to it, but the more I use it, the less I like it.
My main complaint is if a friend sends an Easter egg or some other nonsense to a friend, I get notified. If that friend sends Easter eggs to 20 friends, I get 20 notifications. Those notifications can easily take up one full page. I don’t do those apps and am not interested in who’s getting eggs! The old layout allowed you to filter apps out, but this new layout only allows you to filter out friends. I don’t want to filter out friends. If I did, I’d just delete them!

I also really dislike how your status moves down as others post. This isn’t Twitter! Twitter serves it’s purpose and I do twitter on the Twitter website. Facebook was different, and that’s why I liked it.

I was also surprised when conversations between me and a friend would show up on the newsfeed, but at least there are settings so that you can change that.

They need to fix that apps thing, though. That’s my main complaint. I could probably get used to it if they fixed that. But I’ve noticed my friends are using FB much less. I will use it less, too, if my friends stop.

This change was a more drastic one…which is why I’m going to play around with it more before I make a final decision. It sounds like you were one of the first to get it so you probably have already done the “used it and hate it” period. Thanks for the comment and I’m going to check out your post too. ~Todd

I did a writeup of the 10 reasons why Facebook now sucks, and I’ve gotten 3500 hits in 2 days. My normal average hits are 10 per day. I’m amazed that you haven’t seen more outrage on this. Feel free to check out the comments on my blog post, commending my post as to just how bad Facebook screwed up:
